After glorious 30 years with Portavin, Mike Davies would be stepping down from his present role as the General Manager effective July 1st. He would however be continuing his association with the company as a consultant. Tony Royal would be replacing Mr. Davies as the new General Manager. Tony, who currently is the state manager for South Australia has a degree in winemaking and is a Graduate of AICD.
Mr. Davies’ association with Portavin started in the 1980’s from an initial concept of a bottling plant on wheels during his oenology studies at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. Soon enough, the mobile bottling operations were established in WA, Victoria and SA. As the demand grew, there was a need to establish static bottling lines which was successfully done in WA, VIC, SA and NSW.
The 2017 acquisition of the company by San Miguel Yamamura Australasia group further created new synergies for Portavin with the other members of the group which helped us to improve the already high standards of service.
Mike Davies has been instrumental in the phenomenal growth of Portavin. He has seen the company from its infancy to its present stage of growth and also through the acquisition. His rich experience in the wine business would be put to good use as he now takes up the role of a consultant with San Miguel Yamamura Australasia group, advising on matters related to wine bottling.
We are confident that Portavin will continue to shine with Tony Royal as it has been doing for the past three decades under Mike Davies. We wish both Mike and Tony all the best in their new roles and we hope you continue to support our business.
